The annual Latino Festival brings together the whole Perry community and the surrounding areas to enjoy the history and culture of many different nationalities. Countries represented include but are not limited to: Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and, of course, the United States.
This year the festival will take place on 2nd street, August 25, 2018 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. We will have a parade, stage presentations and programs, music, dances, and an area devoted to children’s activities that include face-painting, balloon twisting, petting zoo, Mexican bingo and crafts.
The festival offers a venue where cultures and customs can be exchanged through folk dances, music, and food. It creates opportunities to engage new and established citizens of Perry in community events and helps communicate the value of small-town life to all residents and to tourists.
All revenues from this event will go to support the Hispanics United for Perry Scholarship Fund. Each year, the committee awards four to five scholarships to graduating Perry High School seniors who help to integrate the culture and diversity of those who live and/or work in the Perry area.
