2026 Perry Summer Events Manager
The Perry Chamber of Commerce is seeking a reliable, outgoing self-starter who is highly motivated to assist with the successful execution of summer events, including the weekly Farmers’ Market, annual Friday Fest, 4th of July Celebration, Block Party, and Golf Outing, as well as RAGBRAI. As an integral team member for facilitating these events, the selected candidate will serve as a representative of the Perry Chamber of Commerce and an ambassador of the Perry Community, interacting with Chamber Members, volunteers, visitors, vendors and customers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinate planning and logistics of annual community events as well as assisting in day-of execution
- Provide marketing assistance for events including writing press releases, managing social media, photographing events, creating content and marketing materials, etc.
- Manage Famers Market set-up and take-down, including cones, barricades, tents, tables, and signage
- Operate information tent at Farmers Markets to assist customers, visitors, and vendors
- Assist with vendor communication and volunteer coordination at community events
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Director
Skill Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional interpersonal/customer service skills
- Critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher, as well as Google Docs and Sheets
- General knowledge and experience with digital marketing and social media platforms
- Basic skills in photography and video production preferred
- Some familiarity with Spanish language basics or willingness to learn
Employment Standards:
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to work in a variety of weather and temperature conditions
- Reasonably knowledgeable about the Perry community or willing to learn
- Friendly and outgoing demeanor, willing to interact with a variety of people
Timing:
- Starting Mid-May and ending early-October to include full Farmers Market Season
- Must be available 2:30pm-7:30pm on Thursdays, June 4th through September 24th
- Must be available during evening events on June 12 and July 24 and all-day July 4 and July 21
Hours:
- Part time 15-25 hours/week, as available
- Regular weekly schedule to be established, with flexibility to adjust for special events
Compensation: $15-18/hr, dependent on skills and experience
