In a world where most people form their understanding of serious events from brief headlines and filtered news segments, this program offers something different: a behind-the-scenes look at what’s really happening. Join presenter E.G. Weiss for this free, community presentation at the Perry Public Library on Saturday, July 11th, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Community Room.
Behind the Headlines: The Threat Within takes audiences beyond the surface of homegrown terrorism and into the realities that are rarely discussed. Drawing from decades of real-world experience, E.G. Weiss walks participants through how threats develop, how radicalization can occur both online and in everyday environments, and why the line between “somewhere else” and “right here” is thinner than most people realize.
Blending elements of personal safety, parenting, situational awareness, and what Weiss calls “Applied Healthy Paranoia,” the program challenges audiences to think differently about the world around them. Through real examples, practical insights, and a clear, grounded approach, participants will gain a better understanding of what to look for, what matters, and what responsibility looks like in today’s environment. This is not a lecture. It is a candid, thought-provoking conversation designed to inform, engage, and leave audiences better prepared—not through fear, but through awareness.
