Fall WOW! Wednesdays STEM Program (K-5th Grades): Wednesdays (September to November)

This month is all about bugs! From the creepy, crawly, slimy ones to the colorful, shiny, flying ones, come to our STEAM program to create your own! Our WOW! Wednesday's STEAM program for elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade explores Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! The group meets every Wednesday (January to April and September to November) from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, in the Community Room. We will also have our Maker Space cart available for tinkering at each WOW! Wednesday. This is a free program, and no registration is required. This month’s schedule includes:

• September 2^nd: Exoskeleton Challenge - Insects don't have bones or skin, they have a shell called an exoskeleton. Can you create one using the supplies you are given that can keep a bug alive?
• September 9^th: Circuit Bugs - Make your own miniature bug with light-up eyes using pipe cleaners and mini diodes.
• September 16^th: Kinetic Butterfly - Make your own "flying" butterfly our of paper, craft sticks, straws, and rubber bands. Hide it in a book or box and it will fly out!
• September 23^rd: Spiderweb Challenge - Build a spiderweb that will catch different types of bugs, from paper bugs to plastic bugs.
• September 30^th: Design Your Own Bug - Create your own bug using the supplies provided.
