Seasonal Facilities Assistant
Reports to: Guest Experience Manager, Misty Conrad
Status: Part-time/seasonal, Hourly, Exempt
Compensation: $13/hr starting rate

Position Overview
The Seasonal Facility Assistant’s primary role is to maintain Whiterock’s lawns and other guest facilities so that they are safe, accessible, and presentable to the public. The Seasonal Facilities Assistant must be available 35-40hrs/wk throughout the growing season, as well as part-time early spring and fall to prepare and wrap up. Additional duties may be assumed throughout the year as time and organizational resources allow. This position reports to Whiterock’s Guest Experience Manager and also takes direction from Whiterock’s Land Operations Manager. The Seasonal Facilities Assistant will work independently the majority of the time, so must be self-directed and diligent in their daily tasks. The successful applicant must have experience with lawn care and basic equipment maintenance, and be willing to interface with the public, including volunteers. Experience in facilities maintenance is preferred but not required. Preference is given to candidates local to the Coon Rapids area.
Primary Responsibilities
Grounds and equipment maintenance, public relations
· Maintain guest facility grounds by mowing, string trimming, gardening, watering, removing litter, identifying and addressing safety risks, and performing other duties as they arise
· Report safety concerns, incidents, and ideas for landscape improvements and operational efficiencies to the Guest Experience Manager. Be proactive in researching and sourcing cost effective solutions
· Coordinate with Whiterock staff, service members, and volunteers to aid with grounds maintenance projects when needed
· Ensure WRC equipment, vehicles, and facilities primarily used for guest operations are organized and in good working condition
· Support trail users, campers, and other Whiterock guests by giving directions, answering questions, and providing resources
Secondary Responsibilities
Facilities maintenance and general duties
· Assist with the maintenance, improvement, and assessment of guest infrastructure, such as buildings, fishing ponds, outdoor furniture, and trails as schedule allows
· Help with all-hands-on-deck projects when needed and Whiterock events as schedule allows
· Participate in team check-ins and periodic reviews
· Seek training in relevant areas for personal and professional development
Position Requirements
· Desire to work for a nonprofit organization in a rural setting and live within a 40min commute
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to use personal vehicle under Whiterock Conservancy travel reimbursement policy
· Ability to safely operate grounds and facilities maintenance equipment such as push and riding mowers, string trimmers, and basic power tools (training provided)
· Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, navigate rough terrain, and perform physically demanding tasks
· Adept at independent and group work, time management, and prioritization
· Commitment to Whiterock’s mission, policies, programs, and procedures
· Willingness to interact with the public and serve as a positive representative of Whiterock
· Capacity to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
· Excellent communication and listening skills, respectful and reliable conduct
