Med Tech or Med Lab Tech - PT (Weekend package; Saturday & Sunday; 5:30am - 6pm)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Collects and analyzes specimens according to policies, standards, and procedures to assure constant reliability in laboratory results.
· Collects blood and body fluids according to procedures
· Analyzes using laboratory instrumentation and procedures
· Follows OSHA and biohazard standards
· Seeks assistance as necessary
· Share on call duties with other personnel
2. Maintains patient, instrument, and quality control records to assure accuracy and completeness according to internal policies and external regulations.
· Generates patient reports, distributes results, and assures proper billing
· Conducts instrument maintenance and documents
· Performs quality control and documents
3. Recognizes problems when they occur, notifies direct report for assistance and aids in resolution so as to report accurate laboratory results.
· Verifies proper operation prior to reporting of results
4. Contributes to the stocking and upkeep of supplies to avoid interruption in the work process
· Notifies direct report when supplies need ordered
5. Demonstrates competence, willingness to cooperate, and a sense of commitment toward the work arena to promote teamwork and prevent disruption of workflow.
In addition to the functions described above, this role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Dallas County Hospital needs or requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education/Experience:
Two year associate degree and graduate of an approved school of medical laboratory technology. One year experience desirable but not necessary. OR Four-year degree and graduate of an approved school of medical technology OR two-year associate degree and the HHS registration. One year experience desired but not necessary.
Technical Skills:
Ability to follow technical protocols
Ability to work independently
Ability to organize and prioritize workload under pressure
Other qualifications/certificate/license:
Registration as a medical laboratory technologist by ASCP, AMT, or AABB required within six months of hire. OR Registration as a medical technologist by ASCP, AMT or AABB.
