Purchasing Specialist - Part-time; Mon - Fri (Days)
The number of hours for this position will be 65 hours per pay period (every two weeks)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Distribution
• fills store requisitions for all departments
• forms and bulk printing, laminating or binding for departments
• checks and replenishes supplies on Med-Surg Nursing Unit
• replenishes supplies to all other departments on a daily/weekly basis
2. Inventory
• maintains and documents supply levels
• replenishes stock room supplies via placing purchase orders
• follow-up on backordered supplies and open purchase orders
• receive supplies, checks for accuracy and receive in computer system
• puts freight into inventory or notifies department of receipt
• monthly outdate checks in Purchasing storeroom
• coordinates battery recycling program
• assists with annual physical inventory
• ability to order existing products on an as needed basis
• add items to current inventory program
• assist with monthly inventory cycle counts
• seek new items via supplier contracts as requested
• assists with month end duties
• shipping of return items
3. Accounts payable
• verifies receipt of product and accuracy of invoices
• codes and forwards invoices to Accounts Payable
• verifies authorization for payment
4. Assists, in the absence of the Material Management Coordinator, department functions to allow for continuance of quality service.
In addition to the functions described above, this role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Dallas County Hospital needs or requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Education/Experience:
High school education or GED, required. Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate.
• Technical Skills:
Medical terminology helpful. Basic typing and math skills necessary. Computer and Microsoft Office.

• PC Competencies:
The incumbent must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of basic computer skills. The incumbent must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways.
